Marie Curie Cancer Care wins 2009 Everyclick Charity Challenge

Marie Curie Cancer Care has won a national outdoor advertising campaign with posters at 1,500 locations across the country in the 2009 Everyclick Charity Challenge.

Marie Curie beat hundreds of other charities by inspiring their supporters to search the internet, donate and fundraise on Their national Clear Channel Outdoor advertising campaign will be launched later in the year, and as with the 2008 Charity Challenge winner, Diabetes UK, will hopefully result in a significant boost in public awareness.

Marie Curie submitted an extremely comprehensive judging form, available on Everyclick for charities to take tips from for future Charity Challenges!

They maximised the use of online avenues such as social media and also offline promotion; presentations to their staff, adverts which read ‘Don’t Google it’ and post-it notes stating ‘More ways to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care’.

Polly Gowers, Founder of Everyclick said: “Marie Curie were the clear winners, and had explored every possible avenue to get their supporters fundraising using the Everyclick tools, from donations to search and sponsorship, they had maximised opportunities to fundraise online. We are extremely proud to offer charities the opportunity to benefit from this huge advertising prize from Clear Channel Outdoor, particularly at a time where many charities are feeling the effects of the recession on their donations.”

Charities competed in the Everyclick Charity Challenge in three categories, according to the size of their donor base. Marie Curie was the winner of the large charities category and the overall competition, securing the free advertising campaign across the UK. The competition runners up were Endometriosis UK and Epilepsy Action, of the small and medium categories respectively, who have won free advertising on Everyclick.

Mark Chandler, Head of Marketing Strategy and Digital Development commented “I’m so proud of the team who drove this campaign with our supporters and staff and helped us succeed in the challenge set by Everyclick. Winning this competition is a huge opportunity for Marie Curie to ensure more people are aware of the free nursing service we offer across the UK so we can provide more care.”
