Social enterprise: putting positivity into the business world

16/06/2011

We’re all a little fed up of hearing the doom and gloom of government cuts and the closure of companies, so it’s very refreshing to read that social enterprises are ‘growing at twice the speed of other businesses’. A social enterprise is an organisation whose objectives are motivated by wanting to do good and it’s great to hear that businesses which have the potential to make a difference are the ones that are thriving.

With the current economic climate, people have been struggling to be as generous towards charities, whether this is with their time or money. But social enterprises allow people to go about their daily life AND do something good, without doing a whole lot extra. This is especially true with Everyclick, as through products like Give as you Live™, no change in behaviour is needed – simply do your normal shopping online and you can give to the charity of your choice.

We hope that social enterprises will continue to grow, so we can help the UK’s charities and causes when they need it most.

Online Shopping: The Power to do Good

09/02/2011

In a report released in the Independent newspaper, online sales for January rose by 49%; the highest increase for nearly a year. Internet shopping now accounts for 20% of all retail activity in the UK. That means that for every £5 spent, £1 of that is spent online. This report tells us that not only is a large chunk of consumers spending now done online, but it is clearly a growing trend.

For businesses, this means there is enormous potential in this market to make money. However, Everyclick has also recognised the enormous potential in this trend to do good.

Everyclick has calculated that there is £1.25billion available in 2011 for the UK’s 200,000 charities through Give as you Live™. If online shopping continues to grow at this rapid rate, then a substantial amount of fundraising can be done through the internet using Everyclick’s technology and just think of the difference that Give as you Live™ could make if charities could take a slice of the £1 in every £5 spent in the UK.

Technology boosts generosity

14/01/2011

The coalition Government has launched the Giving Green Paper, focusing on how to increase every day giving and to make giving and social action a habitual behaviour. Debate and questions following the Giving Green Paper will be introduced in a White Paper which is aimed to be launched in Spring 2011.

The Government has realised that to encourage increased giving during times where people are finding every pound is being stretched, opportunities to give must be made as ‘easy and attractive as possible’. Everyclick has been thumbed as one instance of how Technology boosts generosity. Products like Give as you Live™ are enabling groups of individuals to raise sums of money every year without giving or spending any extra than normal. Everyclick’s technology turns existing online behaviour into free fundraising opportunities.

With Give as you Live™ launching weekly shopping deals available to supporters, giving just became that much easier. See how easy it is to raise funds with Give as you Live™ by reading what Everyclick CEO and Founder Polly Gowers bought to raise £44 for The Starlight Foundation in just 4 weeks.

Promote your Charity with Everyclick

08/04/2010

Its simple maths! The more you spread the word about your charity’s work on Everyclick, the more you will raise for your cause. Thinking of the right techniques can be challenging at times, so here are 3 great tried and tested methods to raise funds and awareness, that are completely free!

One example is currently being used by Friends of the Earth. They send out their e-newsletter including a clear section featuring their Everyclick fundraising, giving direct access to supporters who are not already taking part.

Another effective technique, currently used by Orangutan Appeal, is to share your charity’s URL on twitter and facebook. The world is currently social media crazy with over 475 million users between each of the giants. Sharing the URL to your supporters through facebook and twitter is free and allows users to view your Everyclick fundraising in their leisure time.

Finally, integrate an Everyclick search bar into your website, like The Fairhaven Garden Trust. The search bar is personalised to your charity so all searches made on your site will raise funds for your cause. You can access the code to embed into your site from the ‘Tools to help raise more’ section on your Everyclick charity information page. Installing the code is just a matter of copy and paste!
