Fundraisers update

30/03/2009

This has been an excellent week for raising sponsorship for some of our fundraisers. One has even managed to raise well over her original target!

Stephen Higgins has added an appeal to his fundraising page this week. He’s running the 8.5 mile Great Midlands Fun Run for Worcestershire Association for the Blind. He’s showing his commitment to his favourite charity as he says he is not fond of running unless it’s for a kebab!

Chania Frost is doing exceptionally well in fundraising for her Reading Half Marathon – 1hr 50min Challenge! for Assist A Child To School. So far she has raise 50% more than her target amount.

Many people are taking part in the London Marathon. Chris Walker has raised nearly 90% of his £2000 target and Steve Korris has achieved over 75% so far. Betrand Olivier has raised 64% of his whopping £5000 total! He wants to support the building of a new church in Doha, Qatar.

Simon Goddard is running the London Marathon to help improve the facilities at Spurgeons College, where he trained as a Baptist minister. James Peters has nearly reached half his target in his very first marathon to raise money for Links International Trust. It has taken David Jamieson four tries to get into the London Marathon and he has managed it in year number four. He’s raising money for the Childrens Heart Unit Fund based at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle, which he says is an unbelievably good cause.

We wish these and all the other fundraisers training for the London Marathon at the moment the best of luck (4 weeks to go!). Hopefully we will feature more in next week’s fundraiser update.

Although standard entries for many of the UK’s marathons and other runs have now closed this year, you may still be able to find a place through a charity. For example, Marie Curie Cancer Care still have places available for the Great North, South and Edinburgh runs if you would like to take part. Marie Curie are also going to the New York marathon for the more adventurous!

Save the Children have places available for fundraisers in the British 10k, Great North Run and the Royal Parks Marathon, just get in touch with them at events@savethechildren.org.uk for more information.
