Hilary Benn, Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, visited Everyclick in Moreton-in-Marsh on Monday.

He praised the support given by Everyclick to charities in the economic downturn. The minister highlighted Everyclick as exemplary of how digital technology is transforming rural economies and lifestyles for the benefit of the region.

Speaking about the visit Hilary Benn said: “It is great how Everyclick is enabling so many people to access a new and no cost way to support such a diverse range of charities. The fact that this fundraising revolution is happening from Moreton in Marsh demonstrates the value of broadband connectivity to rural Britain”.

Polly Gowers, Founder of Everyclick said: “Broadband access in the region was vital to Everyclick’s growth, and has enabled us to realise our aim of providing thousands of under-resourced charities tools to interact with their supporters online and access new streams of fundraising. Currently 59% of the UK’s smallest charities2 have no online fundraising ability, and there is a significant gap between how potential donors use the internet and the giving facilities that are available”.
