Fundraisers update

19/05/2009

Everyclick fundraisers are still working hard raising funds for causes close to their hearts.

No more so than Peter Hall, our top fundraiser this week, who is climbing the world’s tallest active volcano in aid of his charity the Alzheimer’s Society. Peter’s incredibly tough challenge involves climbing four peaks in two weeks, culminating in a gruelling 19,637ft climb with ice axes and crampons up steep glaciers to the summit of Cotopaxi in Ecuador. He plans to do this in September 2009 but needs to raise £3,750 by the end of June to be able to take part.

Several fundraisers are taking on the Three Peaks Challenge this year, independently and at different time this summer.

Four post-grad students and a primary school teacher have got together as 3 Peaks Team and are testing themselves in aid of VMM. Craig Tucker, Sam Deegan, Severin Kennedy, Neal Edmondson and Tom Evans aim to climb the UK’s highest peaks within 24 hours.

Thomas Lindley also hopes to climb the three peaks in 24 hours with a group of colleagues on 13th June, for Footsteps Foundation and Julian Dorado is taking up the 24 hours challenge this weekend in aid of Southend Mencap.

As an alternative to the UK’s highest peaks, Emma Webb has set herself the 26-mile Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge for June for the Biscay Dolphin Research Programme and Ian Sanderson is supporting Afrinspire with his Yorkshire trek on the 20th June.

Hilary Lipscombe is climbing Snowdon, Cadair Idris and Pen-y-van for the Welsh Three Peak Challenge on 1st and 2nd August. She is doing this for the Hospice of the Valleys as “it is a very good cause – one we hope we will never have to use but sadly is all too often needed”.

To support any of these energetic fundraisers, please visit their pages on Everyclick and give what you can. The Three Peaks is a great challenge for those of us who want to take part in a physical fundraiser but would rather take it a little slower than a marathon, half marathon or fun run. The website Three Peaks Challenge contains information for those who would like to organise their own fundraising treks up the UK’s highest peaks.

This weekend also sees the running of the Bupa London 10000. Several runners have created their fundraising pages on Everyclick to collect funds for their favourite charities, including Brenda Soars, Carol Demuth and Fola Anjorin who are all raising money for Dartford Grammar School Parents Association. Emma Phillips, M T Hamzat and Stephen Haben will be in London running for Saferworld.

Good luck from Everyclick to all those taking part in various events this weekend!
